Thomas Carlyle (1795 - 1881)
For years I was a SAHM and Home-schooled my 3 sons. I despaired that going back into the work place would show up the fact that I had been out of it for so long that I would never manage it. After much research, I decided to take a trades course to become an Aesthetician. I went into the Academy to talk to the Senior Instructor and owner of the school and she was so encouraging. I LOVED it....the entire learning process was food to my soul. Having never gone to University, I was intimidated by the younger gals, fearing I would struggle with the University level textbooks, but I excelled, getting a 98% on the final exam.
That's when I saw the true value of being an avid reader. Now I encourage many Moms, who are intimidated by going back to school themselves, to go for it. Between life's lessons and reading, those two teach us what Universities never can.
